Young and old limbering up ‘four’ Offaly GOAL Miles

OFFALY people of all ages and fitness levels are gearing up for four GOAL Miles in their area this Christmas as the popular annual fundraiser returns to the county over the festive period.

OFFALY people of all ages and fitness levels are gearing up for four GOAL Miles in their area this Christmas as the popular annual fundraiser returns to the county over the festive period.

The GOAL Mile is held in villages, towns and cities all over Ireland every Christmas and is one of the country’s biggest and longest-running annual fundraising events. The concept is simple: people run or walk a Mile and donate whatever they can afford to GOAL on the day.

Thanks to GOAL Mile organisers and participants, millions have been raised to support GOAL’s work in the developing world since the first Mile was held in 1982.

Offaly Miles will be held this year on Christmas Day at Emmet Square, Birr from 1pm; at Tullamore Harriers Running Ground, Tullamore from 10am - 12 noon; on St. Stephen’s Day at the Church Grounds, Ferbane from 1pm and on December 27 at The Garden Centre, Alderboro, Geashill from 11.30am - 1pm.

If you would like to raise money for your local GOAL Mile in advance of the event, get in touch with your local organiser, or contact GOAL at 01-2809 779, or on fundraising@goal.ie
