A part time hobby could potentially make dreams come through for Shinrone local and camogie player Caroline Crean who has entered a novelty cake into the Cully and Sully Cheffactor competition.

Caroline needs your vote to win a prize of a professional cookery course in Ballymaloe worth ˆ12,000! To vote, please visit the Cully and Sully website www.cheffactor.ie and LIKE Caroline’s entry. The public voting begins on Monday October 17.

The competition requires the entrant to submit a picture and description of a signature dish which includes the name ‘Cully and Sully’ and the entrant is within the picture. With the brief in mind Caroline decided to recreate the recognisable Cully and Sully Soup Box with chocolate sponge and fondant icing.

To present the cake she created a vegetable patch area which is formed by broken up chocolate sponge and includes baby carrots made from fondant icing and food colouring, both depicting the organic nature of the product. The detail on the soup box was created free hand with a lot of time and patience.

A native of Shinrone, Caroline works as a Dental Nurse with Dr Padraig O’Reachtagain in his Dental Practice based in Roscrea. Daughter of Johnny and Theresa Crean, she was part of the Shinrone Camogie team who were narrowly defeated by Drumcullen in this year Senior Camogie Championship in Birr.

Her passion for food evolved in her spare time and at the weekends when she floods family and friends with loads of tasty and appetising treats. Completely self thought, with the exception of some guidance from her mother who is also an avid cook, Caroline finds great pleasure in cooking both sweet and savoury dishes. She feels the opportunity to get professional guidance by the experienced mentors in Ballymaloe would allow her to develop and refine her technique and would be a dream come through!

The Cully and Sully Cheffactor Competition is open to anybody with an interest in cooking. The potential winner will get a €12,000 prize worth of a professional cooking course in Ballymaloe.
