There was a real festival atmosphere around Portarlington Rugby Club last weekend with the huge success of their Kick Back event.
Last Saturday afternoon’s Family Fun Day ran overtime with nobody wanting to leave! Bouncy castles, an inflatable slide and obstacle course, face painting, disco, tag rugby and running races kept the huge crowds entertained all day with parents commenting on how well the club had run the event.
It was time for the grown ups to Kick Back on Sunday night with a wonderful BBQ buffet, live band in the marquee and dancing until late in the clubhouse. Club President Padraig Maree said “All of the hard work has paid off. I cant say enough to praise the organising committee and everyone who rowed in to make such a huge success of the weekend. It was absolutely fantastic”.
And the good news for everyone is that the fun doesn’t end here. Portarlington Rugby Club have announced that they will be reopening their disco on Saturday nights starting on Saturday August 18th and for the younger ones there’s a summer camp to look forward to from August 13th – 17th. Registration for the summer camp is available in Adrian Dunne’s Pharmacy on Main Street in Portarlington and places cost only €50 for boys and €25 for girls with family discounts available.
