PORTARLINGTON couple Sinead Brophy and Patsy Lawlor enjoyed the wedding of their dreams at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel in May thanks to stroke of good fortune
The couple got engaged four years ago when Sinead proposed to Patsy on Valentine’s Day, also the date of their anniversary but had decided they would marry abroad to save money.
However, the couple decided to visit the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel’s wedding fair after spotting an article in the Express and headed in with no idea that they would win the wedding of their dreams.
They filled out a form for the wedding competition, went on a tour of the hotel with the staff and met many of the wedding fair exhibitors.
The couple were enjoying their day in the hotel when they heard their names called out. Much to the couple’s surprise, they had won the competiton and were very lucky to receive their prize as two other couples had been selected but were not on the premises to receive the dream wedding.
“We still had no idea what was happening until we heard congratulations,” said Sinead. “Then I was handed a huge bouquet of flowers and Patsy was presented with a beautifully wrapped box that held all the vouchers we had just won”.
The wide array of prizes was explained to the lucky couple by hotel manager Anne Marie Hennessey, who also helped the Sinead and Patsy plan their special day which took place on May 26.
“It took us a good few months to get over the shock of it all and when we did get over it, it kicked back in again as we started to plan the wedding” said the bride.
The voucher from the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel entitled the couple to a breakfast banquet for 100 guests with the bridal room and parents’ room included. Patsy and Sinead decided to add money they had been saving themselves to the voucher and added an extra 100 guests to their list. They also won a host of other prizes including music from Transmitter, photography from Seamus Dunne Costelloe, wedding cars from Munster Chauffeurs and videography from John Brophy to name but a few.
The couple were delighted with the help they received from hotel staff in making their day as good as it could be. “We met with Anne Marie to discuss this and we were amazed and delighted at how easy she mad this process for us. From there right through to the wedding day, we had no concerns regarding the reception as Anne Marie had taken charge of all of this”.
Sinead and Patsy were thrilled with how their wedding day went and said that staff in the hotel were friendly and willing to help not just them but all the guests who gave very positive feedback.
“Our day has come and gone but it has left some very special memories for us and we would like to thank Anne Marie, the Management and staff of the Abbeyleix Manor who made our day perfect,” said Sinead.
