“I really wish to highlight the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle as a vital part of a person’s wellbeing. Training for and participating in these races is a terrific opportunity for a positive start to 2013. I am also very mindful of the wonderful City Council parks dotted throughout Dublin which provide ideal training grounds whether as a fun runner, serious runner, or an elite runner. We are privileged to have such fine parks” he said.

All athletes on the Lord Mayor’s team will receive a t-shirt prior to commencement of the first race. Team members will also receive FREE entry to two of these races. On completion of all five races a special reception will be hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House where each athlete will be presented with a unique medallion.

Road Races are part of the sporting fabric of our city and the five selected take place in well known areas of Dublin.

The Lord Mayor would like to thank the Athletic Clubs, The Irish Sports Council and RTE for their participation in this race series.
