One of Ireland’s most loved cars, the Nissan Micra, is in the midst of Pink Week, from Friday, 16th November – Saturday, 24th November.
It’s an initiative to raise funds for Breast Cancer Ireland and their pioneering research programmes. If you want to help the cause, it couldn’t be easier.
Simply pop into your local Nissan dealer during the week and request a Nissan Micra test drive or log onto www.nissanmicrapinkweek.com to book a test drive at a time that suits you and Nissan Ireland will make a €50 donation to the charity.
Four specially pink wrapped Nissan Micra’s will tour the country during the week and look set to be an eye-catching reminder of the fundraising activity.
Breast Cancer Ireland (www.breastcancerireland.com) is a charity established to raise vital funding to support research into Breast Cancer. Under the direction of leading Breast Surgeon, Professor Arnold K Hill, the goal at Breast Cancer Ireland is to seek, through research, to transform breast cancer from often being a fatal disease, to a chronic illness, that can be maintained long term through treatment. Breast cancer will affect one in every ten women in Ireland today. Recent advances in diagnosis and treatment have improved survival rates, yet we still experience 680 deaths annually. Investment in research is vital and that’s where the funds raised from Nissan Micra Pink Week can help.
2013 will be the 30th Anniversary of the Nissan Micra. Over the years, the Micra has been and still remains one of Ireland’s most popular city cars with just short of 100,000 Micras sold in Ireland since its launch in 1983.
Jeanne McGann, Head of Marketing and Communications, Nissan Ireland said: “To celebrate the success of the car that has everything, and to mark the occasion Nissan has decided to give something back and is joining the drive for Breast Cancer Research by supporting Breast Cancer Ireland. It’s a very important cause that impacts the lives of many of us in this country.”
Aisling Hurley, Development Director, Breast Cancer Ireland said: “We’re encouraging everyone to support Nissan Micra Pink Week. It’s a generous and creative way of raising funds and we’re asking people to make some time in their busy schedule to get behind the initiative. It costs the consumer nothing and yet will help significantly in our Race for a Cure”
