The first month of the new 132-plate has been hailed as a success as it just fell shy of being the second busiest month for car sales in Ireland this year.
Volkswagen remains the number one car brand in Ireland following a month which saw 11,640 new cars registered. At just five units behind March, which was the second-busiest month of 2013 dealers have also reported a strong order bank leading into August, which means that sales for this month are expected to be healthy.
Volkswagen remains the number one brand in Ireland with 12.69 per cent market share delivering 8,233 units, positioning them ahead of Toyota and Ford. The Volkswagen Golf remains the number one model of 2013 so far. 3,241 Golfs have been registered in 2013, giving it a 5 per cent market share.
“We have been particularly delighted with showroom traffic in July and I don’t think we could have hoped for a much better month from an industry perspective,” said Volkswagen Operations Director Paul Burke. “What is also very encouraging are the orders coming in that will be delivered in the coming months and the increase of
finance activity, especially on our PCP Personal Contract Plans,” added Burke.
