Having friends round for drinks is the perfect way to socialise without breaking the bank when it comes to getting your round in. Serving cocktails with all the trimmings is a great idea, but buying several bottles of spirits can be very pricey. So instead assign each guest a particular variety to bring with them.

There are some investments which are non-negotiable though: one being a decent cocktail shaker, and the other plenty of ice. When it comes to glassware, the big-name supermarkets manage to offer some remarkably pretty glasses with a bargain price tag.

Alternatively, keep your eyes peeled in charity shops where you can pick up single stand-out glasses for just a few pence.

If everyone is enjoying different tipples it won’t matter that the glasses don’t match.
