Irish Radio Station Newstalk’s “The Moncrieff Show” is sending presenter Henry McKean where no man has gone before - through labour!

On Wednesday, June 26, Henry will go to The Birth Hotel at Geboorte Centrum, a special private maternity hospital in Amsterdam where he will be attached to electrodes that will simulate child birth. Specialist midwives will ensure that Henry goes through the full labour experience … we’ll see how long he lasts!

Are women just giving out about nothing? Is Henry McKean man enough to be a woman? He will certainly be under pressure as he carries the burden of proving if men have a higher or lower tolerance to pain than women.

Henry said, “I have been practising my breathing techniques and pain tolerance, I’m becoming increasingly nervous and worried about it.”

“Princess Kate and Will are having a baby and I’ve recently become an uncle so I’m feeling broody but nothing prepared me for this.”

His birthing partner will be Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor who will also be taking bets on how long Henry will last.

He’s currently odds-on at 4/5 to shed tears and 4/1 to quit within just half an hour - the full market is available on Ladbrokes.com.

Listen in to The Moncrieff Show weekdays 1.30-4.30pm, all this week on Newstalk 106-108 to see how Henry got on.

Audio (probably including much screaming), pictures and video will be made available on Newstalk.ie/henrysbaby and you can follow his journey on Twitter: #henrysbaby.
