Ideal Standard Ireland, a leading brand of innovative and design-driven bathroom solutions, today revealed the results of Irish research which revealed some interesting facts about what people get up to in the shower and how the shower has become a sanctuary for many in these busy and stressful times.
The Ideal Standard Shower Survey, which questioned Irish people on their showering and bathing habits, shows that more than half (53%) of all Irish people are enjoying romantic moments in the shower – but almost 55% complained that they don’t happen as often as they would like! 66% felt it was the steamy nature of the shower that made it a good place for a romantic rendezvous. When asked, who would be their preferred showering partnering, women opted for Ryan Gosling and Tommy Bowe, while Irish men picked Rihanna and Jessica Alba as their preferred shower buddies.
With Irish people under extreme time pressure these days, it’s not hard to believe that 94% of Irish people would now choose the shower over the bath. The shower is also seen by many as being more hygienic than other forms of bathing. The Ideal Standard survey also highlighted the reinvigorating nature of the shower, with 90% of people saying that their shower revitalizes, removes aching muscles and gets them going in the morning. The shower really has become the most versatile and dynamic space in the home with Irish people using the shower for all sorts of activities: gathering their thoughts, sprucing themselves up and of course singing!
Of those surveyed, the majority chose a low pressure shower as their biggest frustration with 67% choosing a high pressure shower as the most important quality in a shower. Ideal Standard has tackled the problem by designing the Alto Ecotherm exposed thermostatic shower valve, which works in both high and low pressure showers, allowing all those aches and pains to be washed away. Respondent’s pet hate in the shower is hairs in the plughole (50%) with a quarter of the respondents citing a moldy shower curtain.
Jenny Smith, Media Relations Manager with Ideal Standard says “I am not surprised with the survey results; the shower is becoming a sanctuary for many people and is a great time-saver. A place to relax, get ready, share a moment and so much more. The importance of ‘me time’ is key and helps us push forward to design bathroom solutions that are truly inspired by real life and the different needs and desires that come with each life phase”.
The survey was conducted via an on-line survey tool which asked over 100 consumers between 15-65+ years old about their showering and bathing habits. The results in this survey reflect the opinions of Irish people.
