Not that long ago Swedish car maker Volvo launched its hotly anticipated new V40 range to much critical acclaim. Since then the firm has had time to ready more new versions, and has displayed its Cross Country and R-Design variants at the Paris Motor Show.
The former boasts a raised ride height and some Audi Allroad-style bash-proof exterior trim. It’s expected to slot in between a family hatch and the burgeoning range of compact SUVs already on the market. Curiously, only the top-spec petrol model will be all-wheel drive, with the rest of the petrol and diesel line-up settling for wallet-friendly two-wheel drive.
If you want a more performance-orientated experience, the V40 R-Design follows in Volvo’s tradition for offering a sportier chassis set up and purposeful-looking bodykit. Judging by the cars on the Paris show stand you won’t be disappointed, and just like the Cross Country model engine choice ranges from the affordable to the downright racy.
