Turning a new leaf

Falling leaves might mean extra work in the garden, but take the changing colours of the season as interiors inspiration and you’ll be bang on trend.

Falling leaves might mean extra work in the garden, but take the changing colours of the season as interiors inspiration and you’ll be bang on trend.

Eve Kelly, editor of Homes & Bargains, says: “Painting an accent wall in a rich burgundy, saffron or gold will not only bring the autumnal look into your home but will also create a warm and cosy atmosphere for the darker evenings.

“Alternatively, go the wallpaper route and combine autumnal tones with a bold leaf motif for the ultimate tribute to the season.”

Aside from colour palettes, consider adding warming accessories, such as bronze-coloured ornaments and sumptuous cushions, to complete this look.

“For those who like bright flashes of colour, consider investing in a vibrant tree wall sticker,” says Kelly. “Apply it on a hall wall, and attach unobtrusive coat pegs to the end of the ‘leaves’ for chic and unusual hall storage.”
