Car buyers warned only a short time left to order your car under Scrappage

THE Society for the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) this week warned customers who are considering buying a new car under the Scrappage scheme to order as soon as possible.

THE Society for the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) this week warned customers who are considering buying a new car under the Scrappage scheme to order as soon as possible.

SIMI’s Director General, Alan Nolan says, “Dealers may require a number of weeks to order and register the new car and more importantly, the old car must be scrapped before June 30 so in order to ensure customers can secure the new Scrappage car of their choice, orders should be placed as early as possible.”

The SIMI last week released Scrappage stats for April which show that so far this year, 7,003 reclaims have been made under the scheme, 2,000 more than the same time last year.

“With a lot of buzz and interest in the scheme at the beginning of last year, it is very good to see that an additional 2,000 cars have been sold this year under Scrappage. Of course, times are still hard for most out there but motorists are seeing that by scrapping their old car for a greatly reduced, new car now, they’re availing of a fantastic deal which they have probably never seen before.”
