A more pronounced grille, revised bumpers front and rear plus features like LED lights bring it into the line with the appearance of the bigger E-Class. All models now feature an aluminium bonnet which helps to reduce overall mass.

Changes on the inside include a refreshed dashboard, with smart, galvanised control buttons and the display screen integrates more neatly with the rest of the instrument panel.

Underneath the slicker skin, the engine range has been revised with improvements and efficiency gains across the range. The 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine is also new, and combines strong outputs and impressive acceleration with a remarkable fuel economy figure of 41.5mpg combined.

The most frugal diesel unit can now deliver 64mpg combined and C02 figures of just 117g/km, thanks to the standard fitment of a start/stop system amongst other changes.

The 2011 C-Class goes on sale in March 2011, with pricing details yet to be announced.
