McDonald’s deal is great news for Irish beef
TULLAMORE’s Michael Guinan, Chairperson of ICMSA’s Beef & Cattle Committee, has welcomed the announcement by Dawn Meats and McDonalds Ireland announcing a five-year €300m contract for Irish beef equivalent to about 18,000 tonnes annually.
Mr Guinan remarked that beef production in Ireland at present is in a good place with renewed optimism amongst farmers regarding its future.
He added that to sustain this optimism and to continue to develop the sector, developments like that announced recently are what is required and Dawn Meats have to be complimented for their success in securing this contract
“Irish farmers have worked hard to play their part in moving Irish beef up the value chain and customers of Irish beef can be assured that Irish farmers will continue to produce cattle to compete with the very best in the world,” concluded the popular Tullamore farmer.
