THE Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore has beaten off hundreds of other hotels across Ireland to win the title of ‘Ireland’s Best Hotel Carvery of the Year 2011’.
The announcement comes after months of judging and mystery carvery reviews of hundreds of hotels and pubs across the country. Making up the prestigious judging panel are well-known broadcaster and self-confessed carvery lover George Hook, along with Mark McCarthy, Business Development Chef of Unilever Food Solutions Ireland, and Steve Wynne-Jones, Editor of leading foodservice magazine Hospitality Ireland.
Paddy Kennedy, Head Chef at the Bridge House Hotel said: “This is a fantastic competition and we’re thrilled to have come out on top in the Great Hotel Carvery category! The Bridge House Hotel is a landmark property in the midlands with a national reputation for first class food and exceptional customer service. Winning Best Hotel Carvery is a huge vote of confidence in our team and the world-class carvery fare we have on offer. Our carvery has always been extremely popular with our customers who keep coming back. It’s great to see our hard work paying off!”
Stephanie Reilly, Food Service Manager at The Bridge House Hotel added, “We have a strong reputation which can be dated back to 1970 and the fact that our carvery keeps bringing people back for more is testament to how popular our fare is. This is a great day for the Bridge House Hotel!”
Chairman of the judging panel, George Hook said that the judges were particularly impressed by the Bridge House Hotel’s warm and friendly atmosphere, while all judges agreed that the quality of the carvery offering at the hotel was unparalleled.
“This year, we looked for venues that were creative, original and clever in their use of ingredients,” said George. “The Bridge House Hotel delivered on every note, offering delicious home-cooked food at a great value price. When teamed with their wonderful customer service they were unbeatable.”
Commenting on the overall winner of ‘Great Hotel Carvery 2011’, Mark McCarthy, Business Development Chef at Unilever Food Solutions, said: “The Bridge House Hotel stood out head and shoulders from other hotels across the country for its inventive and consistently excellent approach to carvery. Head Chef Paddy Kennedy and his team are clearly passionate about carvery and that shone through every aspect of their entry this year - from the creative dishes on offer through to the warm atmosphere and top-drawer customer service given to the customer. We enjoyed a fantastic carvery lunch on each visit to the Bridge House Hotel – this consistency is what makes them such worthy winners this year. Congratulations to Paddy Kennedy and his entire team on a fantastic win.”
As well as the coveted title, the Bridge House Hotel wins an investment budget to put towards a national marketing campaign to promote its award-winning carvery. The hotel will also receive a commemorative menu board to remind their customers that theirs is ‘The Home of Great Carvery’.
Meanwhile the Bridge House has also announced the opening of The Pavilion, a new cool area to catch up with friends over a refreshing drink and homemade buns, cakes and muffins.
