THE 4th annual FRS Memorial Scholarship in conjunction with Macra Na Feirme and Teagasc has been launched.
The FRS Memorial Scholarship awards a student the opportunity to gain invaluable hands on practical exposure in the service industry.
The Scholarship consists of 3 months placement in an FRS Office to gain experience of how the business is run.
The person will be employed by FRS and will be given as much practical exposure to the running of the business as possible. This experience will provide the all-important starting block to their future career.
The winner will also be presented with a Perpetual Trophy and a personal trophy. All finalists will receive a certificate of achievement.
Finalists will be selected from each Teagasc college on the basis of a presentation and the individual’s demonstrated leadership qualities. Finalists will be required to prepare and deliver a presentation at the Colleges Challenge Day on January 19, 2012 after which the winning student will be announced.
Peter Byrne, FRS CEO, commented, “FRS is delighted to be involved in giving a student, with real potential and drive, a chance to gain that all important hands on practical experience to open the door to their future career. We pride ourselves in being part of the development of the agricultural industry and this is just one way that FRS does just that.”
President of Macra Na Feirme, Alan Jagoe said, “A young farmer for the future must be a an all-rounder able to speak out and work in conjunction with others and the opportunity to gain experience through a reputable and long established organisation like FRS will stand to them as they embark on their career.”
