Ferbane/Banagher Macra packed the suitcases and headed to Athboy for the Blue Jean and Country Queen Festival where Emer Dermody from neighbouring club Camcor Macra who represented Offaly.

The festival kicked off on Friday with an opening ceremony followed by interviews for all the queens and then a disco. On Saturday the Queens were interviewed privately by the judges followed by karaoke and a pub crawl and then live bands in the marquees outside The Old Darnley Hotel.

On Sunday the ladies played some rugby at the craft fair and enjoyed themselves thoroughly followed by an evening Banquet and the announcing of the Blue Jean Country Queen at midnight.

Congratulations to Leann Brennan from Wexford Macra Na Feirme on winning the Blue Jean Country Queen Festival 2012, with Wicklow girl Jennifer Collins in second place and Rebecca Daniels from Kilkenny in third.

Emer Dermody did Offaly so proud and Ferbane Banagher Macra want to congratulate her on her achievement representing the county so eloquently at the Festival.

Best wishes to all Leaving Certificate students in the coming weeks, we hope the exams go well for you all.

The club is always looking and welcome to new members in the Ferbane/Banagher region so if you have an interest in sport, agriculture, drama, debating, public speaking or the performing arts why not get involved in Macra.
