THE Midlands Gateway Chamber recently launched its inaugural MidlandsIreland.ie gateway to Innovation and Excellence Awards, to be held on Friday May 20 at the Mullingar Park Hotel. The traditional Midlands Gateway Chamber Ambassadors Ball has beenchanged to become the MidlandsIreland.ie gateway to innovation and excellence awards.
The president of the Midlands Gateway Chamber, Paul O’Reilly said that, “While the individual town Chambers have always had their town awards, now in an advanced spirit of collaboration, the four Chambers of Athlone, Tullamore, Mullingar and Midlands Gateway Chamber wish to celebrate best practice in the various areas of innovation and excellence across all of the Midlands”.
He further added that, “While Midlands Gateway Chamber recognises that many successful companies have an economic base here in the midlands, their client base is national or abroad, hence they are under the radar in local terms and this awards night is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements”. Paul continued, “it’s fantastic to see all the chambers of commerce in the region working together with the Midland Region Authority and local Authorities to celebrate innovation and excellence across the entire region”.
The awards categories are:
1) Environmental Responsibility Award
2) Outstanding Business Award
3) Best International Trade Award
4) Business Person of the Year Award
5) Emerging New Business
6) Lifetime achievement Award
7) Ambassador Award
Angela Rigney the newly appointed Administration and Operations Officer for Midlands Gateway Chamber said, “We have also retained the Midlands Gateway Chamber Ambassador award as it is incorporated in the new format. The tradition of selecting a Midlands Gateway Chamber Ambassador will be anxiously anticipated again this year; the winner will follow in the footsteps of Michael O’Leary, Owen Killian and Gabriel D’Arcy. The standards are set very high and this award is now the most coveted award of the midlands”.
