TaxAssist Accountants, a new company aiming to provide a dedicated, value for money tax and accountancy service to local Laois and Offaly businesses was officially launched last month by local TD and National Chairman of Fine Gael, Charlie Flanagan.

The new venture is based on Bridge Street and is headed up by Simon Bain, an accountant with over 20 years experience.

As Laois’ first walk in accountancy and tax shop, TaxAssist Accountants aims to provide help and support to local small and medium businesses.

Speaking this week, Simon commented ‘There is a real can-do attitude to business here in Laois and I want to support this as much as I can in a practical way.

“For example, because it can be difficult for businesses to get access to the financial advice they need in plain English, we have developed a number of free guides that cover common accounting and tax questions for start-ups.

“Anyone can call in off the street to take a copy and to discuss, for free, their particular circumstances.”

Bringing investment of over €100,000 to the area, Simon aims to create several jobs over the coming months and years.

Charlie Flanagan congratulated Simon on the growth of his business so far, and complimented TaxAssist’s ‘Making life simple’ motto.

TaxAssist Accountants works with a broad spread of customers from hairdressers to dentists and printers, and says they all have one thing in common value, ‘clients want a good, proactive service from their accountant without the expensive hourly rates that usually brings’
