TULLLAMORE’S Tourist Information office could set up shop in the Offaly Historical and Archaeological Society (OHAS), according to one Tullamore Town Councillor this week.
Fine Gael’s councillor, Molly Buckley raised a motion at the Council’s December meeting requesting the Council write to Failte Ireland regarding the importance of a tourist information office in the town.
Addressing the monthly meeting, Cllr Buckley raised the issue as she wished to emphasis the importance of having a tourist information office in the town.
The Fine Gael councillor went on to confirm subsequently she had been told that the Society was prepared to take the tourist information office for the duration of the Tullamore Dew Heritage centre closure where the office had previously been located.
Meanwhile, Cllr Buckley thanked the people in the Heritage Centre for their work in the provision of the office at the centre over the past number of years.
