Offaly County Council have announced details of it’s priority salting routes for the winter ahead.
Routes are split in Priority 1, Priority 2 and Priority 3. Among the Priority 1 Routes is the N62 from Roscrea, through Birr, Cloghan, Ferbane and on to Doon. Also included are the N52 from Birr to Tullamore, the Tullamore By-Pass, the R420 from Tullamore to Clara, the R420 from Tullamore to Geashill and the N80 from Tullamore to Killeigh.
Priority 2 Roads include routes between Birr and Banagher, Geashill and Portarlington, Clonbullogue and Portarlington, from Geashill to Edenderry and from Clara to Tubber.
Priority 3 Routes include Shannonbridge to the Blueball, Ferbane to Clara, Tullamore to Ballinagar, Mountlucas to Rhode and Rhode to Edenderry.
Road users are advised that the inclusion of a route for winter treatment is not an indication that these routes are frost/ice free at all times and motorists should drive with due care and speed appropriaet to the possible conditions to be encountered.
Offaly County Council also advise that unnecessary travel should be avoided in adverse weather conditions and where journeys are neccesary, it may be helpful to plan your route taking into considerationthe roads listed for treatment.
