THE unique OFFline Film Festival which runs from October 13 to 16 in Birr is delighted to return for a second year with support from Offaly Local Development Company.
Over the course of the festival there will be workshops, screenings and a short-film making competition. With a €4,000 prize fund and a guaranteed slot in the 2012 Galway Film Fleadh this is a prestigious competition and one that should not be missed. There is also an exciting OfflineOnline competition, the winner of which will receive €1,000 funding, mentoring and support to make a short film.
Recently the festival has been hosting workshops by industry professionals in association with Filmbase and Offaly Local Development Company such as Hands on Sound Recording for Film and Television with Noel Quinn who has been involved in the film industry for almost forty years.
Shoot, Edit, Upload (this week) is the perfect course for those who want an intensive overview of the technical and creative skills needed to create film and video segments for online distribution and is facilitated by Tanya Doyle. The final workshop Producing a Low budget Film will take place on October 14 in Birr. There will also be workshops on how to pitch your idea run as part of the OfflineOnline competition.
During the festival, equipment, facilities, location and a volunteer database will be made available to teams participating in the short film competition.
