overwhelming, was the word used to describe last Tuesday’s gala fashion show in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore in aid of the Alzheimer Society’s services.
“There was a tremendous sense of community, family and support on the night as we seemed to know everyone who came along,” explained one of the organisers Jacinta Fitzpatrick.
“We were completely overwhelmed by the response of the public. Apart from the funds raised, we also feel that public awareness of Alzheimer’s was enhanced as there was a steady stream of people at the information stand,” added Jacinta.
The Regional Manager of the Alzheimer’s Society Kate Brennan spoke eloquently and movingly about this very difficult condition and presented bouquets of flowers to the three local organisers Jacinta Fitzpatrick, Liz Fleming and Helen Grehan at which stage there was barely a dry eye in the house.
The actual fashion element of the show was co-ordinated by Vanda Fryday of Becarra Boutique who added interesting elements such as the four male models giving bottles of wine to members of the audience!
Spring Summer fashions from Becarra and Laura Gray Boutique were very well received as were men’s fashions from Carrolls Menswear.
The proceedings moved along at a lively pace thanks to the chirpy presentation of Compére Bridget Dooley who brought all her own knowledge of fashion to bear on the event.
In fact many members of the public who attended thought the format and presentation on the night made the event one of the most enjoyable held in recent times.
All funds raised will go towards the local Alzheimer’s Support service.
