The students of the Tullamore Classical Music School will present their Summer Concert this Thursday, May 31 at 7.15pm in St Colmcille’s Church, Durrow.

These local young people will be joined onstage by the members of the award-winning ConTempo String Quartet and violist Aoise O’Dwyer. Tickets are €10, €5 for children, available at the door.

The ConTempo String Quartet will return to Tullamore this summer for the International Summer Music School, which will take place from August 18 to 26.

With a programme offering numerous opportunities for students to perform as soloists and as chamber musicians, applications are open to local and international string players, singers and pianists.

This is a wonderful opportunity for local music students to work with some of Ireland’s most highly respected musicians, as well as meeting young people from the USA, UK, Spain, France and Italy.

Guest artists will include virtuoso accordian player Dermot Dunne, reknowned pianist Dearbhla Brosnan, internationally recognised composer Elaine Agnew and critically acclaimed soprano Helen Hassett.

Students will be mentored on a daily basis by local cellist and composer Adele O’Dwyer, pianist Natalie Shiel, violist Aoise O’Dwyer and violinist Siún Milne.
