MEMBERS of the Phoenix Festival met with Tullamore Town Councillors and representatives yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss the possibility of holding a festival later in the year.
This year’s Phoenix Festival did not go ahead due to an issue over insurance.
However members of the committee met with Cllrs Brendan Killeavy, Tony McCormack and Molly Buckley as well as Town Clerk Ruth McNally and Director of Services Declan Kirrane to discuss the idea of having a different festival towards the end of the summer.
“It was a very positive meeting and progress was made. The Phoenix Festival Committee are to have their own meeting and they can decide whether they want to run another festival later in the year,” said Cllr Killeavy.
He said things were a lot clearer as to what can and can’t be used in the park.
He said everyone was “hopeful” that another festival could be organised, but it was up to the committee to submit a new application for August or September.
A follow up meeting has been arranged for next month to discuss what the committee has decided.
