OFFALY County Council is embarking on a public consultation process on the future shape, needs, direction and ambitions of the choral music sector in Offaly.
Choral music is a very accessible and low cost activity where the only instrument people need is their own voice. Offaly County Council are working in tandem with Westmeath County Council in this process with an overall aim to apply for funding to the Music Generation Scheme in 2012.
Music Generation is Ireland’s new National Music Education Programme funded by U2 and The American Ireland Funds.
The application process is on a competitive basis and if successful there will be opportunities for young people to be involved in a planned music education programme in Offaly and Westmeath.
An open public consultation forum will take place in Tullamore Library on Thursday, April 26 at 6pm.
