Tullamore music students triumphant at Sligo Feis Ceoil

Students of The Academy of Music Tullamore have once again collected a plethora of silverware from this year’s Sligo Feis Ceoil which was held over the recent Easter holidays.

Students of The Academy of Music Tullamore have once again collected a plethora of silverware from this year’s Sligo Feis Ceoil which was held over the recent Easter holidays.

In its 112 year illustrious history, Sligo Feis Ceoil has welcomed and rewarded the finest musicians, artists and thespians from the length and breadth of Ireland. Boasting a wide range of categories, often with 20-25 participants per competition, Sligo Feis Ceoil is a renowned platform for budding artists and established talent to compete against like- minded and gifted individuals.

For the past number of years The Academy of Music Tullamore has done remarkably well, with their hardworking students greatly impressing a team of vastly experienced adjudicators. This year was certainly no exception with the following students joining a long list of prominent winners.

The Academy scooped an astounding 5 first place positions.

Junior Violin Solo Cup 1st place went to 10 year old Jennifer Dillon of Athlone, Co Westmeath whose teacher is Jessica Davis.

Junior Flute Solo Cup 1st place went to 9 year old Abbie Keyes of Mucklagh, Co Offaly whose teacher is Kevin Carberry.

Junior Cup for Ensemble Playing 1st place was won by The Academy Junior Flute Ensemble whose members are Joshua Guinan, Kinnity, Co Offaly, Abbie Keyes, Mucklagh, Co Offaly and Emily Dillon, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Junior Singing Solo Cup 1st place was won by Ailbhe O’Sullivan, Tullamore, Co Offaly whose teacher is Ciarán Brady.

Senior Singing Solo Cup 1st place was won by Deirdre Higgins of Moate, Co Westmeath whose teacher is also Ciaran Brady.

The Academy’s Success did not stop there however.

Senior Flute Solo Cup 2nd place was won by Eoin Fallon, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

Senior Solo Singing 2nd place was won by Laura Slattery, Tullamore, Co Offaly

Junior Sacred Singing 2nd place was won by Elaina Strolla, Clara, Co Offaly

Junior Musical Singing 2nd place was won by Aoife Digan, Clara, Co Offaly

Junior Musical Singing 3rd place went to Meghan Lynam, Tullamore, Co Offaly

Junior Piano Solo U12 3rd place went to Jennifer Dillon, Athlone, Co Westmeath

Junior Piano Solo U14 3rd place went to Grace Minnock, Athlone, Co Westmeath

This is a marvellous achievement for each and every participant and a clear reflection of their dedication and hours of practicing. As The Academy of Music Tullamore approaches its end of year examinations this is already proving to be a fruitful year for the Academy as it continues to nurture and foster the ever growing talent of midland musicians.
