Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash and the odd skeleton will be among the ghostly dancers at Portarlington’s Jigs & Reels competition this Halloween.

Hosted by Portarlington Community Development Association/Love Port and Meals On Wheels, twenty couples will compete to win €500 for their clubs and associations, including scouts, Meals on Wheels, LOFFA and Tidy Towns.

They have put two months of Irish dance training in thanks to Kara Burbage of the Burbage Dance Academy.

Proceeds of the night’s raffle will go to Port First Responders, and ticket profits will be split between Love Port projects and Meals on Wheels.

“There will be a Halloween theme disco after so we are encouraging everyone to come in fancy dress,” said organiser Margaret Guijt Lawlor.

The fun night is on Sunday October 27 of the Bank Holiday weekend at the Heritage Hotel in Killenard, from 8 till late.

Tickets €20, from the Love Port office at Oriel House, committee and dancers.
