THE year’s Phoenix Festival will take place in the Town Park, Tullamore, on Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8.
Each year the voluntary festival committee seeks sponsorship from local businesses and hosts various fundraising activities to help raise funds to host events over the festival weekend.
This year the challenge is greater than ever and the public are being encouraged to support the festival by organising their own events.
“Everybody has an idea for an event during the festival,” said chairperson Loughnan Hooper, “we are asking people to put a plan down on paper along with costs and infrastructure required. If the event idea is well planned out, safe and offers value for money within the festival budget, the festival should be able cover it under its general insurance and promote it in the festival programme.”
The public and local businesses are invited to submit ideas for consideration to the festival committee by Monday February 28.
The next Phoenix Festival meeting takes place on Wednesday, February 16 in the Bridge House hotel at 6pm. Log on to the festival website to download an event application form - http://www.phoenixfestival.ie or add the festival on Facebook and YouTube.
