Stunning art exhibition to open in Tullamore

Two local artists will have their work on display as Offaly County Council opens its final exhibition in the 2017 series
Vista, new works by two well-known Offaly artists, Aileen Kavanagh and Rosemarie Langtry.

Tullamore's Aileen Kavanagh presents a new body of work in which she has developed a deep connection with country-side, sea scapes and city scapes.

Kavanagh works intuitively using broad brush strokes and pallete knife technique to produce the dynamic between colour, texture and form.

Working abstractly she begins by focusing on the horizon line, using vivid colour and texture to promote fresh, engaging prospectives in the field of vision.

A native of Ross, Tullamore, Aileen Kavanagh graduated with an honours degree in Fine Arts from GMIT in 2013. She has exhibited in many groups and solo exhibitions including: Aras Chontae, Tullamore; Birr Arts Theatre, Scariff Library, Cluain Mhuire Galway.

Rosemarie Langtry describes her approach to forming a unique and individual piece, at any one time, as “in the moment”. Hues and forms of the local landscape, rust and found objects combine inspire her creatively to providing an intriguing art form to encapsulate memories from bygone days.

Bog cotton, heathers and even decaying antiquities become entwined within the layers of paint, melted wax and vibrant pigment to enthrall and captivate the viewer with an air of mystique. With excitement and a sense of anticipation the mediums combine to capture and enfold an everlasting, timeless and emotional response to my heritage.

Rosemarie Langtry is a contemporary visual artist living and working from her studio in Ballinahown, Westmeath. She graduated with a Degree in Fine Art from GMIT in 2014 and has a certificate in Community Art Development from NUI
Maynooth.

Rosemarie has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has had a number of solo shows. Her work is included in the State Art Collection.

The exhibition will be launched on December 8 at 6 pm in Áras an Chontae, Tullamore.

The launch speaker will be Mary Brady, Arts Officer Offaly County Council. The exhibition is open weekdays from 9.30am to 4 pm in Áras an Chontae, Tullamore and continues until January 5, 2018. All welcome. For more information, visit
