Grace O'Dea reports
A MAN in his twenties remains in a critical condition in hospital following a house fire in Edenderry last Sunday morning.

The fire occurred in a house in The Sycamores around 4.30am on Sunday morning.

Two units of Edenderry Fire Bridge attended the scene along with Gardaí.

One man was taken by ambulance to the Midlands Regional Hospital at Tullamore where he remains in a critical condition.

The other occupants of the house escaped without any major injuries. It’s believed the fire may have started in the front room of the house.

Members of the Garda Forensics Team attended the scene on Sunday, but Gardaí say they are now satisfied that the fire was totally accidental.

Gardaí said it was the house’s two fire alarms going off that saved lives. They are advising people to check their fire alarms on a weekly basis as its vital they are in perfect working order.
