Tempting Taste of Offaly

Following the very successful Taste of Offaly expo last Spring, Midlands 103 has once again organised the popular event which showcases the best of fare from local artisan food producers as well as local restaurants, craft producers and beverages.

What better way to ‘spring clean’ your lifestyle than to treat yourself to some top quality locally produced foods. Research has repeatedly shown that food that is produced, sold and consumed locally is better for you, better for your health, better for the environment and better for your wallet!

“We are very fortunate in Offaly to have a wide range of top quality food producers right on our doorstep offering the best in local fare,” says Midlands 103 project manager Chris Matthews. “The Taste of Offaly event - brought to you by Midlands 103 in conjunction with JA Lumleys Cash & Carry - offers a veritable banquet of fine foods, beverages and crafts from across the county and from our close neighbours.”

This professionally-run event, will feature more than 40 exhibits, sampling opportunities and cookery demonstrations. “Anyone who is interested in good quality food made from the best ingredients will love A Taste of Offaly. There will be something on offer to suit all tastes - literally. From gluten free breads to free range turkeys, from organic meats to gourmet jams, from the sweetest chocolate spreads to fine wines, from hand-made paper products to the most intricate and delicate of crafts. It will all be there to savour on the day,” adds Chris.

Once again A Taste of Offaly will take place at the Tullamore Court Hotel, a venue that lends itself perfectly to large scale events such as this with ample free parking and convenient access to all the major routes into Tullamore.

“We have put a lot of thought and effort into this special day which we are certain will attract a large crowd,” says Chris. “This is a wonderful opportunity to sample and support local companies. You will be seriously impressed by the diversity and range on offer from local producers. Don’t have a big lunch on the day as you will be tempted by all the samples and treats on offer on the day!”
