Offaly couple claim €250,000 lottery prize

IT was a day of delight in National Lottery offices on Monday, August 13 when a very happy Offaly couple collected €250,000, the second highest prize in the Summer Millionaire Raffle game.

The lucky ticket was purchased in Doolin’s store, Kilcormac on Sunday, June 17. The winning ticket number was 041 021.

The top €1,000,000 prize in Summer Millionaire Raffle was claimed last week (August 8) by a Dublin couple. The ticket was purchased in Londis, Upper Liffey Street, D1.

The happy Offaly couple, who did not wish their win to be a public one, checked their ticket on Tuesday, August 7, the day after the Millionaire Raffle draw which was held on Bank Holiday Monday, but held off claiming their prize “because we couldn’t really get our heads around it, it’s such a shock to the system. This sort of news really is too good to be true.”

The happy couple both work fulltime and don’t intend things to change in any major way, “We’re twenty-five years married this year - we got married the same year as the National Lottery began – so it’s really nice to win a prize like this in a celebratory year. We have no immediate plans but I would love to go on a cruise to the Mediterranean at some stage later in the year’, hinted the lucky wife.
