The second annual Rehab Swimathon has been launched with a call-out for swimmers across the country to sign up and swim 1K for Rehab. The Rehab Swimathon, which is sponsored by Coral Leisure and iRADIO, takes place nationwide from March 19 to 25.
Rehab is calling on people to make a splash by swimming 1K as individuals or as part of a team while raising vital funds for Rehab. All funds raised locally will be spent locally
The Rehab Swimathon gives participants the opportunity to give something back to the community and over 70 leisure facilities across the country will make their pools available as part of the fundraising effort.
All funds raised from the Rehab Swimathon will go towards improving Rehab’s services for people with disabilities in communities nationwide.
Pauline Crowley, Head of Fundraising, Rehab said, “The great thing about the Rehab Swimathon is that everyone can take part – you can swim one length as part of a team or the whole kilometre yourself. It can be part of your normal weekly swim or you can set yourself a personal challenge and train for it. You’ll get great exercise while raising money for Rehab’s services in your locality.
“Every day in our services we see people with disabilities facing personal challenges. The money raised from the Rehab Swimathon will go towards providing new experiences that will have a profoundly positive effect on people’s lives, for example, facilities such as children’s play gardens and adapted vehicles to enable access to activities in the community. Every euro that swimmers raise will be put to practical use in our services..”
Following a very successful partnership last year, Rehab is delighted that Coral Leisure is continuing its support for the Rehab Swimathon by hosting swims in all of its seven leisure centres across the country.
