The new i40 Hyundai Tourer

The new i40 Hyundai Tourer

THE smashing looking all-new Hyundai i40 Tourer was launched on the Irish market with one of the most comprehensive warranty packages available. Part of the standard package is Hyundai’s market leading 5 Year Triple Care Plan, the No 1 customer care plan on the Irish market.

Hyundai is the only manufacturer in the country to offer a full manufacturer backed 5 year unlimited mileage warranty across the entire product range.

The No 1 customer Care plan includes 5 year unlimited mileage warranty; 5 year free vehicle health check and 5 year roadside assistance.

With a dynamic brand slogan that urges “new thinking, new possibilities” Hyundai said they are moving to the modern premium sector with their latest models, but crucially, they will do so without a prohibitive pricing structure.

Share premium value

The way they pitched it was “they want to share premium value with more people”. And they want to get out the good news about the marque to the big number of people research has shown don’t know the Hyundai brand.

The new Hyundai i40 Tourer hit the market with a special price of 26,495 euro (ex-works). The second model in the range is the i40 Tourer Executive (27,995 euro) and the newly arrived i40 saloon - there is a huge preference for saloons in this country and it could command up to 60% - comes in at 24,995 euro (ex-works).

The i40 Tourer arrived with a frugal 1.7-litre diesel engine, which features Idles Stop and Go and is designed to squeeze more energy out of every drop of fuel.

Hyundai executives spoke about fuel returns of up to 65mpg, which would make the i40 over 20% more fuel efficient than one of its main rivals, the Toyota Avensis.

The i40 Tourer has a best in class emissions figure of 113g/km (Category A) which bring it into the €160 per annum road tax category.

Hyundai reminded that the big mileage driver would make the biggest saving with this car.

The 115bhp unit is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a 6-speed automatic is available with a beefed up 1.7 diesel engine that pumps out 136bhp.

Standard features

The new Hyundai i40 has a superb array of features as standard, including a nine airbag system, electric stability control, brake assistant system, hill assist control, vehicle stability management, daytime running lights, space saver spare wheel, motor driven power steering, Bluetooth with voice recognition and radio/CD, plus MP3, plus RDS, plus USB, plus Aux and iPod connectivity.

The safety and security features on both models include remote central locking, ABS and child locks on rear doors while air con (Comfort) and dual zone climate control with auto demist is part of the Executive package.
