RAHUGH Drama Group are busy rehearsing for ‘The Chastitute’ by John B Keane. The play featuring a cast of twenty people including many new faces together with some familiar ones will be staged over five nights - from Friday, March 2 to Sunday, March 4 and on Saturday & Sunday, March 9 & 10 in Rahugh Hall.

A Chastitute? What’s a Chastitute? John Bosco is one - and has spent most of his adult years trying to lose the label. He is a bachelor farmer and all he is seeking is a plain, decent woman to share his life.

This comedy follows his adventures (or misadventures); he is aided by Micky Molly, the local matchmaker, and Sylvester Brady, the Townie, with a reputation of vast experience with the opposite sex. Will he be successful?

The play is about a middle-aged farmer named John Bosco McClain. McClain has been unlucky in love, and in the sack, no matter what he does. The play follows his quest to acquire a wife with the help of a local lover boy Sylvester and matchmaker Micky Molly.

Hilarity ensues, naturally.

Attending a play in Rahugh is a wonderful night out. Rahugh is in the parish of Kilbeggan and just a short drive from Tullamore and Mullingar. On arrival you will be greeted by the friendly reception team, presented with a programme and ushered to your seat in the beautiful warm comfortable Rahugh Hall.

Every year the cast and crew of Rahugh Drama work tirelessly to build amusing sets and put on spectacular performances that have audiences coming back year after year.

Last year’s production saw the group perform to packed houses for eight nights running and they donated around €3000 to local worthy causes.

You can catch performances on Friday, March 2 to Sunday, March 4 and on Saturday & Sunday, March 9 & 10 in Rahugh Hall. For bookings contact Margaret 044 92 23522.
