No grey area in Eason 2012 Bestseller Chart
Eason has revealed its top 100 bestselling books of 2012 and two very different trilogies lead the way in the chart, with EL James’ Fifty Shades dominating.
Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed reached the top three positions respectively in the list, while Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games trilogy occupied fifth, sixth and seventh positions with Catching Fire, Mockingjay, and Hunger Games.
In the year that saw Ireland’s bestselling author Maeve Binchy pass away, it was rather appropriate that her final book, A Week in Winter, topped the mainstream fiction chart, and hold the fourth place in the overall Eason bestseller chart.
Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel came in at seventh place. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series performed extremely well in the bestseller list appearing eight times in the top 40 list of books. Marian Keyes’ The Mystery of Mercy Close and Ross O’Carroll-Kelly’s The Shelbourne Ultimatum took the last two spots in the Top 10
J.K. Rowling reached number thirteen in the chart with The Casual Vacancy, her first adult novel since the Harry Potter series.
