ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
The annual Kilcormac St Patrick's Day Parade takes place on Wednesday, March 17. The parade starts on the Birr Road at 3.30pm and all floats are asked to be in place by 3pm. This year there is a new perpetual trophy, made locally by Don O'Boyle, and hopefully there will be great competition between the floats to see who will be the first winner.
All children taking part in the parade can assemble and prepare in the car park of the GAA field. This will make the event so much safer for the children and the organising committee are very grateful to the GAA for their co-operation and help.
First and second prizes for the children's fancy dress – group and individual – are vouchers for Jumpin' Jacks, Tullamore and the organising committee are hoping that there will be an increase in the number of children taking part in the fancy dress section. There is no entry fee for any float or fancy dress, and you do not have to enter in advance. Just turn up on the day with your entry.
The St Patrick's Day Parade is always one of the highlights of the year in Kilcormac and hopefully this year will be no exception, and the crowds will turn out to enjoy the various floats. More stewards are needed on the day, particularly new faces. If you can lend a hand please go along to the reviewing stand before the parade.
Before the Kilcormac Parade at 3.30pm, there is always the Mountbolus Parade to attend.
