Foróige Club starts in Streamstown

THE first committee of St Joseph’s Foróige club was elected on April 28 and the new committee members are: Chairperson Thomas Pettit, Vice Chairperson Michael Pettit, Secretary Eleanor Conway, Vice Secretary Aisling McCormack, Treasurer Aaron McDonald, Vice Treasurer Edwina Sweeney Scally, PRO Lauren McCormack and Vice PRO Caoimhe Kelly.

St Joseph’s Foróige Club was established on March 16 last. There are currently 30 members and 7 adult leaders (Andrina Fitzgerald, Myra Pettit, Joe Boyle, Laura Sweeney Scally, Rachel Farrell and Josie McCormack).

Breda Maguire Regional Youth Officer with Foroige provided great advice, helped form the club and suggested activities that members could organise.

Every week members have great fun playing dodgeball, soccer, air-hockey and a variety of other games.

Their community project is a car wash and cake sale, which will take place this Saturday, May 19 in Horseleap Streamstown Community Centre from 11am-3pm. The cost of a car wash including tea or coffee and a bun is €5. All are welcome.

It is hoped to use some of the proceeds to fund broadband in the community centre and establish a book swap system for Foroige members.
