COUNTY CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to all the Ferbane U-12 ladies who were victorious in their County Final against Tullamore last Saturday in Tubber. On a scorching hot day Ferbane defended stoutly in the first half as Tullamore, aided by a stiff breeze, dominated possession but crucially their superiority was never seen on the scoreboard. Delighted to lead by 3 points to 2 at half-time the Ferbane girls completely outplayed their taller opponents in the second-half emerging victorious on a 1-7 to 0-3 score-line. Well done to Nicola, Martha and Tom and all of the girls who, under the captaincy of Emer Flynn, thoroughly deserved their victory. Special mention to Ella McEvoy and Emma Maher, who were forced to miss the final through injury.

Commiserations: Hard luck to the Ferbane ladies who lost the league final to Killeigh on Monday night in Ballycumber GAA pitch. The Ladies footballers have made great progress in recent years and it's surely only a matter of time before the hard work of players and management alike get rewarded with some silverware.

Fixtures: Tonight (Wednesday) the Junior A footballers play Daingean at 8pm in Daingean GAA grounds.

Tomorrow night (Thursday) the Junior B footballers play Tullamore in O'Brien Park at 8pm. Please note that this is the game that was due to take place on Tuesday night but it has been rescheduled.

Good Luck: Best of luck to Offaly senior and minor footballers and hurlers who each face crucial knockout championship fixtures over the next seven days.

Table Quiz: Ferbane/Belmont minor club are hosting a table quiz in Cahills Pub this Friday night in order to raise funds for the File squad who are preparing to travel to Greysteel in Derry in a little over a week. All support would be greatly appreciated for this event.

Next week's draw will be for a jackpot prize of €6800. €50 Lotto tickets, which guarantee entry for 26 draws, are available from any of the usual sources and ensure that you don't miss out in case your numbers come up! The lotto can also be played online at www.locallotto.ie/ferbanegaa or via the link on www.fbgaamc.com – so be sure to get your ticket no matter where you are.
