Edenderry Historical Society The next meeting of Edenderry Historical Society takes place this Friday, March 12 at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, followed at 8pm by a lecture about the 'Castles of Offaly', speaker Caimin O'Brien. Members of the public are invited to attend. New members are always welcome.

Cookery Demonstration

Lovers of good cooking will gather at the Hamlet Court Hotel on Wednesday, March 24 at 8pm to watch author, broadcaster and chef instructor Frank Moynihan ply his trade. This is an evening not to be missed. Proceeds of the evening will go to Monasteroris Parent / Teacher Association to improve facilities and resources in the school. Tickets are available from Hamlet Court Hotel reception (046) 954 1200 at a cost of €10. So write the date in your diary and secure your ticket in time.

Night at the Dogs

Edenderry GAA will have a joint fundraiser with neighbours Scoil Bhrde on Saturday, March 27 when they will be 'Going to the Dogs' in Mullingar Greyhound Stadium. Racing start at 7.30pm. This Joint Fundraiser is to raise funds for School Whiteboards and for the new Edenderry GAA Dressing Rooms.

The race card will include 'Edenderry Derby' and a Novelty Relay Race with Senior Players. There will be Music and Raffle on the Night. There will be Free Bus Transfers between Edenderry and Mullingar. Bus will be leaving Edenderry at 6.30pm. Tickets €10. Seats for dinner €50. Contact Willie Forde to book a place, 086-8332932.

Meals on wheels

Have you an hour to spare around 12.30pm? Are you a qualified driver with access to a car? North Offaly Community Development Network needs your help. In preparation for the ever-expanding Meals on Wheels service in rural areas throughout North Offaly they are currently seeking Volunteer Drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels in your area. If you can spare an hour (and/or know someone else who would be interested) to help this new development in Community Services throughout North Offaly please call: Dolores at 057 93 62755 or Sandra/Brenda at 057 93 53670. It is hoped to have as many volunteers as possible thus minimising the requirement on all.

GROW

GROW hold a weekly meeting in the Kare Centre, Edenderry Business Park, Edenderry on Thursdays at 7.30pm. A group also meets in the Library, Edenderry at 11am on Friday. If you are interested in promoting good health, avoiding isolation and would like to make new friends come and join the group. No introduction necessary. Just come along! Edenderry Clean Up Campaign

Have you a half hour or an hour free on Monday mornings? Please meet us in Dunnes Stores Car Park at 10am this Monday and every Monday. If you're male, female, young, old, a native of Edenderry or new to the town, please come and join us in our quest to clean up our town. EDWIB's work along with Offaly County Council, FAS, KARE and ECCC showed great promise but when work stopped during the Christmas period, the problem returned. The group want to take positive action and put a strategic plan together to include the schools, clubs, business and residents of the town. If you can help we would like to talk to you.
