Edenderry GAA Golf Society
The Edenderry GAA Golf Society held their Captain's Prize day (Captain Johnny Brady) on Saturday June 12 in Edenderry Golf Club. The outing was held in conjunction with Eden Golf Society and with beautiful weather, over 30 players and a home venue the day was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all involved. The course proved to be a great challenge on the day and when all cards were in we had the unusual event of four players tied on a score of 36 points, namely Finbarr Cullen, Peter Brady, Derek Jones and Bill Corcoran. After the back nine countback Derek Jones emerged the eventual winner so well done to Derek. Finbarr was a very close second and Bill finished 3rd which left Peter out of the main prizes despite finishing with a wonderful 36 points, however he did manage to claim the consolation of winning his class B prize. Greg Blong was the winner of Class A with a very good score of 34 points and Declan Farrell claimed the Class C prize for the second time in a row with a steady 33 points. The Front nine was won by Declan Brereton with 18 points and the back nine was won by Seanie Burke with a wonderful 23 points whilst the nearest the pin was won by Tony 'Beano' Farrell. The full results were: First: Derek Jones 36 points, Second: Finbarr Cullen 36 points, Third: Bill Corcoran 36 points. Class A: Greg Blong 34 points, Class B: Peter Brady 36 points, Class C: Declan Farrell 33 points. Front Nine: Declan Brereton 18 points, Back Nine: Seanie Burke 23 points, Nearest the Pin: Tony Farrell
The Society would like to say a huge thanks to our sponsor Michael Og Brady of Neenan Travel, and to Liam and the staff at Edenderry Golf Club for the warm welcome on the day.
Well done to all the winners and to all who took part on the day. Our next outing is in Tullamore Golf Club on July 12 and our final outing will be in Luttrelstown Golf Club on September 12. Make sure to put the dates in your diary.
