Confirmation Congratulations to the 70 boys and girls who received their confirmation in Clara last Sunday. The 6th class students were from Scoil Phroinsious boys school, Scoil Bhride girls school, Streamstown national school, Horseleap national school and OSSE Kilcruttin. Last Sunday was Bishop Michael Smith's 27th Confirmation ceremony in Clara parish.
St Patrick's Day
With just one week to go, preparations for this years St Patrick's day parade are now well advanced. There is still time for entries. Anyone wishing to enter something in the parade can contact Bertie McMahon on 086 1638088. However the committee is need of extra stewards this year. Anyone wishing to assist should call Bertie as soon as possible.
The parade this year will be preceded by a mini-parade of vintage fire engines. This will be followed by a short presentation to current and former firemen and to the families of deceased local firemen. The theme of this years parade is the local fire brigade.

Sympathy is extended to Des Dillon following the death of his brother Jimmy in Clonard.
Beauty and the Beast
Clara Musical Society presents 'Beauty and the Beast' in Clara GAA centre from Tuesday, March 23 to Saturday, March 27. The production starts nightly at 8pm. All seats n12 Tuesday and Wednesday night and n16 Thursday to Saturday night. A family special of n50 for 2 adults and 2 children is available on Saturday night only. Texas Hold'em
A special fundraising Texas hold'em freeze out will be held in the Mill pub, Clara on this Saturday, March 13. The card game is to raise funds for Clara St Patrick's Day parade. Registration is at 8pm with the tournament starting at 8.30pm. Entry is n55. Phone 05793 30862.

Cemetery Sunday will take place in The Monastery Cemetery, Clara this year on July 7 at 7pm.

Division 4 HL: Clara played Kinnitty in Division 4 Hurling league on Saturday and won on a score line of Clara 1-14 to Kinnitty 1-8. Division 2 HL: Clara played Kilcormac/Killoughey last Sunday in Clara. The teams drew on a scoreline of Clara 2-12 Kilcormac/Killoughy 1-15. The scorers were Brendan Buckley 1-2, Darren Scanlon 0-3, Christopher Flanagan 0-3, Gary Keegan 1-0, Kevin Meehan 0-2, Alan Cronin 0-1, Wesley Coyne 0-1. Football league: Adult football returns to Clara this weekend with Clara hosting two home games in the 2010 League. On Saturday Clara take on Erin Rovers in Clara at 4.30pm in Division 1 and on Sunday the they play Durrow in Clara at 12 noon in Division 2. Best of luck to Pat Flanagan and the Clara panels on their 2010 campaigns.
Lotto: There was no winner of last week's jackpot. The winning numbers were 2, 6, 8,18. There were three match three winners who will each receive €50 and they were N&C Murphy, Francis Moran and Phil Connolly. Next weeks lotto takes place in Cowen's and the Jackpot is n4550.
U-12 Indoor Hurling: Tonight (Wednesday, March 10) all players to meet at 7pm sharp to play a four team blitz with the winning team to get easter eggs. After the blitz players will be presented with their cultec hurls. Please bring balance towards hurl (n12 total). Blitz will be over at 9pm. Players who have blue/orange bib please bring and Clara jersey. This is the last indoor hurling training due to the musical and outdoor training starts Thursday, April 1.
