Courses include Introduction to Computers and the Internet, Maths, English and Art and Crafts. New courses start in September. Meet at 2.30 pm at the Chapel, The Pike, Ballingarry Cross, for a walk led by Noel MacMahon (author of Shinrone and Ballingarry in Focus) who will talk about the toll road system and Knockshegowna. We will be visiting the O'Kennedy Ballingarry castle including the medieval bee boles, the ring fort, the crannog and the fulacht fiadh. Refreshments afterwards at Fairymount Farm. Strong footwear. 42nd Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival
The 42nd Annual Birr Vintage Week is fast approaching and the anticipation is building as the weeks count down to what is undoubtedly the highlight in the town's calendar. A number of fundraising events are being held by the local pubs and their support is greatly appreciated by the Organising Committee. On Friday, June 25 a table quiz is taking place in The Cherry Tree so why not get a table together and go along and enjoy the fun.
On Sunday, July 4 the annual sponsored cycle takes place, leaving from Kelly's of The Green at 5.30pm and heading to Shannon Harbour. This is a great family day out with people of all ages participating. Upon returning to Birr the Cowboy Roadshow will be taking place in Kelly's and a great night is in store.
The Thatch is the place to be on Thursday, July 8 when a wine tasting dinner is taking place. Tickets are available from The Thatch on (057) 9120862.
Birr Theatre & Arts Centre
