At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Ford of Europe is strengthening its successful small car range with an enhanced Ka series line-up and wider safety feature availability, plus a stylish new Fiesta Sport+ model for selected markets.
In addition, Fiesta benefits from an improved 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine delivering better economy and lower CO2 plus Euro Stage V emissions compliance.

Ford's smallest European model, the popular Ka, will offer customers even greater versatility from the spring of 2010.

With an all-new Titanium+ series and three distinctive Ford Individual models, the Ford Ka range delivers the broadest choice to customers in its segment.

The new Titanium+ is the most luxurious version of the Ford Ka city car so far, and debuts at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

'Ford Individual' styling pack options give customers the ability to personalise their Ford Ka from a choice of three distinctive styles. With this series realignment, the availability of key safety features is also being extended to all series levels of the new Ka.

"The new Ka model line-up delivers numerous benefits. It offers the broadest choice of equipment levels in the segment and delivers this in one of the most stylish and fun-to-drive packages available," said Salvatore Campolo, Ford of Europe's Small car Marketing Brand Manager.

Starting with the entry level model, the Ka Trend is anything but basic, featuring full body-coloured bumpers and convenient features like a trip computer and 'guide me home' headlamp functionality.

Ka Trend also features driver and passenger front airbags as well as rear head restraints and ISOFIX mounts for the rear seats as standard equipment. Additional side and curtain airbags as well as ESP are also available (standard in selected markets).

"Now Ka offers a comprehensive array of safety technologies across all models in the range and previously seen only in larger cars," Campolo added.

A new model, the Ka Trend+, offers further style and equipment. Body coloured door and tailgate handles and power-heated, body-coloured door mirrors add to the attractive appearance of Ka, while standard remote control central locking, front power windows and 50/50 split rear seat backrests offer additional functionality and practicality.

The Ford Ka Titanium offers even more comfort and convenience features including an upgraded trip computer, air conditioning and standard fog lamps.

The Titanium+ model additionally receives alloy wheels, chrome detailing on the door and tailgate handles and an exhaust pipe finisher plus on the interior, a standard leather steering wheel adds even more style.

In addition to the comprehensive new series line-up, the Ford Ka range includes three very different 'Ford Individual' design themes – 'Digital', 'Tattoo' and 'Grand Prix'.

All are now based on the Ka Titanium model with its high equipment levels. These three distinctive models each offer a highly unique graphic appearance, while standard 16-inch alloy wheels deliver sporty appeal and fun.

Ford of Europe is introducing a new special edition Fiesta Sport+ model for selected markets that emphasises the sportiness and the bespoke driving dynamics of the successful new Fiesta range.

Available with a choice of the 120 PS (88 kW) 1.6-litre Duratec TiVCT petrol engine or the improved 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine now with 95 PS (70 kW), the new three-door Fiesta Sport+ comes complete with a full body styling kit, featuring a specially designed front bumper with flared lower valence panel, sporty side skirts, a large rear spoiler and a rear bumper with integrated diffuser.

Two distinctive exterior colour schemes are available, both designed to reinforce the car's sporty stance. 'Frozen White' is matched with Performance Blue GT stripes on the roof and bonnet as well as dynamic side stripes, while the exclusive 'Performance Blue' model is finished with eye-catching white stripes.

To round out the package, large alloy wheels are fitted as standard equipment and are painted in bright 'Frozen White'. (7J x 17 wheels with 205/40 R17 tyres for the petrol engined version, and 6 ½ J x 16 wheels with 195/45 R16 tyres for the diesel).

The sporty theme continues in the cabin too. Heated sports leather seats with standard side-airbags and a black full-leather steering wheel are enhanced with striking blue stitching, while the handbrake cover and the gear lever knob are finished in black leather as well. Fiesta Sport+ also gets front and rear floor mats with blue stitching and scuff plates, all with special logos.

"In excess of 526,000 units of the new Fiesta have already been built in Europe since the car was launched late in 2008 and it has gone on to be Europe's top-selling small car and Europe's No.2 best-selling car overall in 2009," said Salvatore Campolo, Ford of Europe's Small Car Brand Manager.

"With its fresh design and acclaimed driving dynamics the Fiesta has also contributed strongly to our overall brand image. To celebrate, we adopted the idea behind the Ka 'Grand Prix' pack for the Fiesta Sport+, offering all of Fiesta's class-leading attributes but with even sportier styling cues outside and inside".

Initially, availability of the Fiesta Sport+ will be limited to the UK, Spain, Switzerland and Austria where small, sporty cars are in particular demand.
